News from Domeniile Franco-Române - Red Galeron and a superpremium wine from 2026
The story of Domeniile Franco-Române winery begins in Dealu Mare vineyard in 2000 when Denis Thomas, owner and winemaker from Burgundy, laid the foundations of the first BIO vineyard in Romania. In 2020, the story continues when Domeniile Franco-Române is taken over by a group of Romanian investors with the intention of capitalizing on the passion for viticulture and bringing the winery's wines closer to consumers.
We wrote the story of the Domeniile Franco Române winery in this article and today we are happy to return with news in an interview given by Carmen Văsioiu, Marketing Manager at the Domeniile Franco-Române
About Carmen you should know that she has been working in the wine industry for over 8 years. During all this time she had the chance to discover how a glass of wine can tell a story about people, places and passion. Carmen was involved in organizing the events Prowein Düsseldorf 2024 and Concours Mondial de Bruxelles – Rosé Session 2025, experiences that confirmed once again the remarkable potential of Romanian wines on the global stage.

Carmina Nițescu: Hi Carmen. I am glad to see you again and to talk now, at the end of the year, about news from Domeniile Franco-Române.
Carmen Văsioiu: I am also glad to meet you again. We have some nice news for the end of the year and, of course, we are already preparing surprises for next year.
Carmina: We are at the end of 2025, the harvest campaign is over, the Holidays are coming, as well as the plans for the new year. How was the harvest campaign this year for Domeniile Franco-Române?
Carmen: The 2025 harvest brought promising results for Domeniile Franco-Române, confirming once again the exceptional potential of Dealu Mare terroir.
This year, we obtained approximately 300,000 kg of grapes, from which around 200,000 liters of wine were produced – representing almost 50% of the plantation’s total potential.
The decrease in production was due to the prolonged drought of the last three years, as well as the late frost in the spring, but the quality of the harvest was clearly superior to that of 2024, comparable to that of an excellent year, 2023.
The harvest period, held between August 25 and September 15, took place under optimal conditions, without sudden climatic variations, which allowed for a balanced ripening of the grapes and a careful selection at the time of picking.
Currently, weather conditions remain favorable for the vines, but the shortage of water in the soil remains a constant challenge for the entire wine-growing area.
At the winery level, the technological innovations implemented in the winemaking process have significantly contributed to improving the quality of the must and to the refinement of the wines obtained.
The result: balanced and expressive wines, reflecting the uniqueness of Dealu Mare and the devotion of the Franco-Romanian Domains to nature, story and perfection.
Carmina: Regarding the wines, what news do you have about new harvests in the wine ranges that we already know? Or maybe you have news about the winery, maybe related to the tasting visit?
Carmen: The winery gates are always open to visitors, by appointment. All details about the tasting packages can be found on our website. We are always happy to welcome wine lovers who want to discover the stories of Domeniile Franco-Române.

Carmina: Last year you launched Galeron range with a Chardonnay barrique. We knew that a red wine was coming in this range, do you have any news about it? If so, tell us a little about this wine and also tell us where this wine will be available.
Carmen: Yes, this year, more precisely a short time ago, Galeron Roșu also became available, a premium blend of Fetească Neagră, the emblematic variety of the Dealu Mare region.
The wine is the result of a carefully created blend:
• 40% Fetească Neagră 2021, barrique 18 months
• 50% Fetească Neagră 2022, barrique 12 months
• 10% Fetească Neagră 2024, without barrique
A complex and elegant wine which perfectly complements the Chardonnay in the same range. It will be available both online and in specialty stores.
Carmina: Do you have any news for the coming year, 2026? I am sure that Winesday App users want to know such news.
Carmen: Yes, 2026 comes with a truly special project: the launch of the superpremium wine Persu–Eminescu. It is a limited edition, an “out of the box” concept, created with care and inspiration. I cannot provide details about the blend yet, but I can say that it is an exceptional wine, dedicated to memorable moments.
Carmina: Thank you very much for the answers, Carmen! until next time.
Carmen: Thank you too, with great love.
